"First 2 days at my job"
22 October 2002 @ 8:31 p.m.
Hehe, Zac's birthday today. Totally off topic, but who cares? Anyway, I have a new layout up at littlesocks. I watched Save The Last Dance a few more times and came up with it, finally. I'll leave this layout for a little while. Whilst uploading the new layout, I deleted the blue table header background things, hence why they're plain. I love Scott's layout tons, and I think I want to try something similar to it. Work is wicked :) Yesterday we did practically nothing. Although the guy who's taking us through our induction (also called Craig, so I'll call him Craig S) has been winding me up. Yesterday we had to do a presentation about another person in our group, and this guy called Peter did a presentation on me. What came up was "She has a boyfriend who works on Dispatch" when Craig S turned to me and said: "What's his name?" "Funnily enough, his name's Craig too," I replied. "Oh no, not Craig Faice!?" haha! I was like "Yeah, why?" Since then when we had to have our photo IDs done, he decided to take our group on a LARGE detour past Dispatch to tap Craig on the back. Imagine this: Craig turns around to see me and Craig S, and a group of 10 other people all stood behind him! Poor thing!! But the cutest thing was that he called me yesterday on my mobile and we were chatting for just over 12 minutes (it says on my phone...) It's cool and so cute because he called to ask me how my day was. I think that was the most time we've ever spoken on the phone. It's a rare treat, but if I'm online, why bother calling, y'know? I was incredibly tired after my first day and I tucked myself up in bed by 8:30. He called me at 10:30, but I was still awake (hehe, barely) watching a programme called "Dead Gorgeous" it was really good. I think by the end of this week I'll have got into the early morning routine. Bearing in mind I haven't had to get up early (except on a Sunday once every 2 weeks) for 3 years. I got into such a bad habit. Today was a lot cooler. I got to sit on dispatch and listen into calls, which I chose to do at about 12:30 so I wouldn't be there when Craig was. I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted all his mates winding him up about me being there, so I did it on purpose. Actually, when I sat down, one lady said to a guy called Austin: "She looks young, but she doesn't look 12!!" I bumped into my cousin Dawn who I haven't seen since probably 1996 when our gramp died. Everyone over on dispatch were really cool and friendly. While I was sat down I turned my head to see Craig's drawer with his name on, and a picture of Jim Carrey! A few people discribed him as being "Jim Carrey like" whilst at Safeway. I gave my uniform back this evening. It was dead in the store. I needed some tan coloured tights so I decided to give in a Thank You card as well as my uniform. I also sat in on call handling, where all the calls come in from the public. It was very enlightening actually, and it really makes you appreciate what they do. And lastly, I've been given my exact job description. I basically input data into a database. With my hours as well, I've got quite a few people wishing they were doing my job! Sadly, if the whole system goes down (Which is highly unlikely) I'm in trouble cos I have to input all the data... Craig S was teasing me saying that that would mean thousands of forms. Well it would, but the probability of it happening would be slim I guess.
