"Am I too young to have a nervous breakdown?"
6th May 2001 @ 4:56 p.m.
Hello! What a day it's been. *sigh* I went into work at my usual time yesterday and I had a note saying "Can you please work 12.30 - 9.30 tomorrow... Please, please, please, please? Sorry it's short notice." When they ask like that, sounding so desperate, it's really hard to turn them down... And I get extra money! They also added on the end: "Could you also do Fresh Gaps too?" I panicked. I only did gaps once on Sandwiches but I had someone to watch over me, so basically I didn't have a clue! I had to run and get Nadine off the checkouts (She's been moved from our department over there. Currently, I'm planning a "GET NADINE BACK ON SM3" campaign ;) *lol*) She had to leave though, but the night didn't go too bad. I was however slightly pissed off as James was trying to stick stickers on my back. I thought he was unsuccessful cos I caught him a few times, but I found one. He was also heading for a right slap... "I need your advice" He told me "Sure", I said. "Tell me what's up" "Well, there's this girl, and she wants to go out after work tomorrow" "And...?" "But she's shy and don't talk, do I go?" "I'm sure you could talk for the both of you 2, so go" "But she's quiet!" "Well, it sounds like you've already made your mind up not to go" He basically said he didn't like my advice (Probably cos it was true!) so I was gonna tell him where to shove it I really wasn't sure if I did want to work all that time especially after a rotten Friday, so when I woke up yesterday I had to ask my mum what I should do. She encouraged me because of the money for my car... Yep, I have a car!!! It's a Vauxhall Cavalier. Not as big as a Mondeo, which I've been learning in with my mum, it's darkish silver, J reg. Wow, my first car :) Most people buy their car a present like a furry dice, but I'm gonna get a Taz air freshener! Tee-hee!! It'll be mine at the end of June... Yet I still have to pass my test on the 18th. Everyone's also talking about my test. I told mum he told me to follow the road but you had to take a right because straight ahead was No Entry and I didn't fall for it. Because my test was at the end of the month, he'd obviously used his Quota for passing (They're only allowed to pass so many people each month) therefore it wasn't my fault And the fact he gave me a serious fault on my observation because I was "Looking for things that aren't there". Everyone agrees with me that it is classed as Anticipation, in case something does happen. Mum says it's very unfair, and I only had 10 minor faults which isn't enough to be failed on he had to give me a serious one. Go figure. Anyway, back to work. Darren hasn't been in for a while and I heard from Michelle (I know this is how rumours get started... but), Darren is hanging on to his job by a thread. We sold footballs once and I know the lads took one from the shop floor and hid it in the warehouse by the back dock to play with, and I know if he joins in, he'll be outta there. Now for the nervous breakdown. I got in to work at 11.15 cos my parents were buying stuff and I got some Polos too. I phoned Jim at 10am to say "sorry, I can't make it in at 12.30..." and he was like, "It's ok" and I said "Can I do 11.30 instead?" he had no objections! I got in and had to mend backdoor stuff and reduce it for 5 hours, which is SM3 Ambient's job (Jim's basically). I got paid to do it so it wasn't too bad. Then I had to do mine. Christine couldn't finish the High/Low report before she left at 4, so I did it for her, then I had the green inserts, and there was a cream spillage that went everywhere (I had it all over my hands), I got collared to do the odd thing for someone like "reduce these Yorkshire puddings"... Then it was about five-to-five. I still had an hour break and a quarter break (15 mins) to fit in as well as doing the meat aisle, gaps, produce steps, spoilage, dump telxons and sign the SFR (Store Freshness Report) I didn't care by 5 and went on my 'lunch'... Only a few hours late! When I got back out I did the gaps which is going over Fresh items (bread, eggs, produce and all the yoghurts, milk, cheese, butter... There are way too many of those!) I did produce steps and was well and truly tired by that point, so I went on my 15 minute break... When I got called over the tannoy to go to the Kiosk, which was on the other side of the shop! So from the canteen I had to walk past the systems room, through the warehouse to the shop floor, down the aisles to reduce some carrots. I went back and said they had to wait. When I finished my cut short break I did a few other things but the only thing I never did was the meat aisle. What a headache!
